Provider Spotlight: Dr. Christy Roberts, Tiny But Mighty Pediatrics

Each month, we love introducing our community to a provider we genuinely trust and refer our families to. This month, that’s Dr. Christy Roberts, MD, FAAP, IBCLC — a pediatrician, lactation consultant, and mom of soon-to-be two, who created a live online newborn education program we think every expecting family should know about.

Meet Dr. Christy

Dr. Christy Roberts is a board-certified pediatrician and lactation consultant, and the founder of Tiny But Mighty Pediatrics, where she offers a live online newborn education program for expecting families.

“I’m a pediatrician, lactation consultant, and mom of soon-to-be 2 darlings, who offers a live online newborn educational platform,” she shares. As a pediatrician in outpatient practice, she noticed how much of newborn education gets squeezed into rushed visits — often while families are sleep-deprived and still recovering, physically and emotionally. Her program was built to fill that gap: a 3-week, physician-led experience that starts with a curated newborn guide shipped to your door, followed by a live 3.5-hour Zoom session where she walks through the material slide by slide (with built-in breaks, because third-trimester bladders wait for no one), and closes with 30 minutes of open Q&A. Classes are capped at around 10 families to keep things personal and accessible.

The topics go well beyond the basics — when to head to the ER, vaccines, nursery must-haves — and into the territory that often gets skipped, like postpartum depression, relationship shifts, and bringing a new baby home to pets. “My mainstay as a pediatrician in my personal practice is always to empower families,” she says. “I believe in my bones that education leads to empowerment and confidence.”

Who She Loves Working With

Dr. Christy’s newborn program is designed for prenatal families, typically in the third trimester. In her broader pediatric practice, she sees kids from birth through age 21.

What Makes Her Approach Different

Ask her clients what stands out, and it’s her approachability. “I don’t judge, I support you and provide you the education to walk alongside you so you feel like you’ve made the most informed decision for you and your family,” Dr. Christy explains. She brings both her clinical lens as a pediatrician and her lived experience as a parent — a combination she says changed her practice for the better. “It’s such a vulnerable time for families, especially first-time parents. I want to hold your hand through it because that’s who I am.”

Why She Does This Work

For Dr. Christy, the reward is watching families grow into their confidence — from the flurry of calls and visits with a first baby to the steadiness that comes with a second or third. “It’s incredible to watch and special knowing I had a part in their story,” she says. That same sense of purpose carries into her work with kids directly: “Advocating for some of the most vulnerable groups of humans gives me such purpose in my work. Quite honestly, being a pediatrician is a genuine privilege and one I don’t take for granted.”

A Piece of Wisdom for Our Families

“Trust that parent’s intuition,” Dr. Christy offers. “It’s not something explained by science (yet!), but if you think something is wrong, speak up. As a parent myself, I know that you know your child better than anyone else ever will. A good doctor will listen to that intuition and make sure your family is healthy and thriving.”

A Little More About Dr. Christy

Outside of work, Dr. Christy’s time belongs to her family — her husband, her son (a self-declared foodie who loves cooking alongside her), and a new baby due this November. “Life is chaotic right now, but SO unbelievably full of color and joy,” she says.
